Fashion Magazine 2011 Spring Trends!

A private gathering for some of Toronto's Fashion crowd was put together by Fashion Magazine. In a form of thank you and in a preview of all things fashion, a private wine and apps event was held in downtown Toronto.

A few glasses of wine and a presentation on all things fashion.

There were some interesting overall themes from designers this year with a lot of colour and patterns. Look for a full report in an upcoming issue of fashion magazine, and when perusing the magazine watch the models eyewear.... as (like always) were were again consulted for all things fashionable in eyewear!

Spectacle Loves Neil Diamond and Oliver Peoples

Way back in September we fell in love with a pair of Oliver Peoples sunglasses from their resort 2011 collection, The Jack One and boy was it love at first sight.

Oliver Peoples seems to be feeling this frame as well, featuring it in their ad campaigns for this season and constantly updating us on its awesomeness on their blog.

Turns out these sunnies are also near and dear to the heart of Mr Dennis Leight brother of OP Creative Director Larry Leight and co-founder of the company.

Seems Dennis' mentor in the eyewear business is famed California optician Jack Schulsinger who hand molded an aviator like this for Mr Neil Diamond.

To check out the whole story surrounding this swing on over to the Oliver Peoples Website.

Just as cool as the story behind this piece are the vintage pics of Mr Diamond himself rocking them way back in the 70's.

Spectacle employees Jordan and Darren took it upon themselves to try to recreate the magic of those photo shoots. Turns out in this case two heads are not as good as one, especially when that one head belongs to Neil Diamond

Chloe Sevigny Loves Opening Ceremony

Hollywood "It Girl" Chloe Sevigny, has been teaming with uber chic American retail giant Opening Ceremony since 2007 on a variety of projects, this year she focused some of her attention to designing a sunglasses line, and we are giving them big love (ha ha ha).

We promised you that we would be debuting an exclusive collection with Barton Perriera a few blog posts ago and voila this is it.

Chloe designed them for Opening Ceremony and Barton Perreria was quick to jump on board and produce her creations, a triple threat of excellence if ever there was one.

Our buddy Rae from Salt and Pepper stopped by on her way home from work and loved this collection so much she had to be the first to grab one, even before they hit the shelves of our Queen St W flagship.

The collection is comprised of 3 models taking inspiration from a Andy Warhol's old muse Candy Darling

Check out the models below

Spectacle Yonge St. Loves David Yurman.

American jewelry designer David Yurman is known for having his creations seen on some of the most famous faces on earth. Everyone from Kate Moss, Ashely Olsen, Naomi Watts and even Brad Pitt have been photographed in a Yurman ring, bracelet or earrings.

Since we launched his eye and sunwear collections last year DY's frames have made their way onto an even more exclusive group, the Spectacle family of clients.

Today Jordan and Stephen aka team Yurman were up at Yonge St to show off the newest pieces David has come up with.

After some careful selecting we put together an order for some beautiful frames guaranteed to look as good on your face as they do on our boards.

Next time you find yourself in the north end stop by Spectacle at 3342 Yonge St and try on a pair.
