Kira Loves REIZ!

Kira chose her favourite eyeglasses of the year and REIZ won!  She chose the Elbe model to write about for its cool shape and colour.

Kira explains in her own words why she enjoys wearing the Elbe so much: "I know that my personal style has evolved drastically over the years and I have redefined different ways to express myself to the world through how I look.  I love REIZ as it has also done exactly that.  They believe that glasses should be more than just a simple function in that they should be a means of personal expression as well.  Be who you want and wear it well - I can live with that."

REIZ creates both eyeglasses and sunglasses by using a range of colours and mixtures of acetate.  They are very complimentary on all face types and REIZ truly makes something for everybody!  Come by our Queen St. West boutique and see all REIZ has to offer.

Tina Loves Thom Browne!

Our Favourite Frames of the Year countdown continues with Tina who is showing her love of Thom Browne!  Spectacle was the first to launch the Thom Browne collection so it's a very special line to us.  Tina loves Thom Browne for his simplistic designs that make a strong statement.  She especially loves the TB-011 model for the mixture of gold, acetate, and titanium.

TB-011 model

According to Tina herself, "The TB-011 model is my ultimate, ultimate favourite.  This model is a subtle new take on a classic, vintage design that was inspired by the '40s, '50s, and '60s which also compliments today's modern aesthetics.  Just like the frame, my style is a little bit vintage and original mixed with a little bit of modern and edgy".

Tina is also a stylist for Global, so she definitely knows her stuff!  If you love Thom Browne as much as Tina does, stop by Spectacle to view our entire collection.

Darren Loves CAZAL Eyewear!

Our Favourite Frames of the Year countdown has begun and Darren is first with his love of CAZAL!  Darren has been with Spectacle for a while now and his experience has given him great insight into the coolest, most flattering styles.

Darren explains why he loves the CAZAL 616 model so much:

"Why do I like the CAZAL 616? Well for me it is all about the versatility. Being around since the 80's these frames have a special place in hip hop lore. Think everything from RUN DMC krushing grooves to Jay Z making the Yankee hat more famous then a Yankee can and you will see them rocking something along the lines of this model.

However, these frames aren't just for the young and jiggy with it. With the depth and sturdiness they posses they are perfect for the future, current and emerging presbyopes - think Robert DeNiro as "Ace" Rothstein in Casino or Uncle Junior Soprano.

It doesn't matter if I'm standing in my B Boy stance or telling some punk kids to "get away from my rhododendrons" - as long as I am wearing my Cazal 616's I'll look good doing it."

Face a Face's Pascal Jaulent, Designer of the Month!

Our lovely display of offerings currently at Spectacle on Yonge Street.

A spectacle favorite for many seasons, Parisian eyewear line Face a Face has built their reputation on stunning colours and vibrant shapes.  February is a big month for the fellow behind many of these designs as Eyestylist, the Fine Eyewear Design Review has selected Face a Face designer, Pascal Jaulent as their influential designer of the month!

Pascal in his Face a Face, PRINT 3.

In his interview, Pascal explains some of the design ideals behind the handmade line:

The basic principle of Face à Face has always been architecture, and now we also combine fashion with shapes and colours – it is very artful. When designing frames, it is important to pay attention to design, but also fashion trends. Frames are a personal object or accessory that has to be connected to fashion trends.

The Ebony 1 in colours 494, 598, and 794 just arrived at Queen Street today!

There are many more collections now than a few years ago. Frames are a personal expression, and the attention that people are paying to frames is a growing, positive trend. I want customers to say ‘this is beautiful, and my eyes smile’. I like to make people look beautiful in their glasses.

With some of the most distinct, handmade acetate styles, it's no wonder the brand has warmed it's way into our hearts, which is why you'll find the collection at both our Yonge Street at Lawrence Park location as well as our Flagship Boutique on Queen West.

Catch the rest of the interview with Pascal here and don't miss our last showcase of colourful models here!
