Oliver Peoples x TAKAHIROMIYASHITA Soloist 3 Eyeglasses are Now Available!

After the success of their previous collaboration, Oliver Peoples and Japanese fashion label TAKAHIROMIYASHITA decided to do it again with the Soloist 3! There are three new styles that keep with the classic design of the Soloist 2, but are made of a new modern titanium material.

All styles are offered in three colours featuring light wash lenses and the engraving "left eye" on the left lens.  This is a trademark of Takahiro Miyashita who was inspired by being left handed himself and products like his Levi's Lefty denim which had all of the detailing on the left side.

The Soloist 3 collaboration is a must-have for Oliver Peoples fans out there. Come by our Queen St. West boutique to check them out!

Oliver Peoples Presents The Soloist Collection

Spectacle is proud to announce another unique collaboration now available at our Queen West Boutique...

The Soloist is a collaboration series with emerging fashion label TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloIst., by Japanese designer Takahiro Miyashita. Previously known for creating the edgy cult menswear brand Number (N)ine, Miyashita is praised in the men’s fashion world as a true visionary.

"The Round" is the distinctive double bridge frame of The Soloist Collection.

As a fan of Oliver Peoples, he was inspired by the understated styling and attention to detail for which the brand is known.
TheSoloIst. frames were constructed under a “salvage” philosophy. It was important to Miyashita that nothing new was produced unnecessarily, and that when possible, stock parts from vintage eyewear be incorporated into the design. Old factories and warehouses were scoured for original pieces and turned out to be goldmines.

"The Round" in Aged Gold with Tortoise Brow Bar.

Also very sharp in Brushed Silver.

When original parts could not be located, a year was spent replicating classical techniques with the original tooling used for Oliver Peoples frames close to 25 years ago. Finally the designs were infused with Miyashita’s original style and the combined parts were successfully reborn as luxury eyewear. The finished product is a masterpiece of old and new – vintage and vintage inspired.

"The Teardrop" is the Sunglass counterpart of the Soloist Collection.

"The Teardrop" continues the brushed, aged gold and silver look.

Also available in Matte Black, "The Teardrop comeswith Polarized and high-transmission lenses.

The rarity of the vintage parts makes these precious pieces a true collector’s item.
Miyashita explains, “This collaboration is going to be a new standard. I am very honored and grateful for the result.”

“The frames feel like a culmination of the many lessons I’ve learned over the years of designing with new and old technology,” says Larry Leight, Oliver Peoples Founder and Creative Director. “The styles are completely unique and at the moment they are hard for me to take off. I just really love them!”

The complete Soloist Collection is available at our Flagship Boutique at 752 Queen Street West!

Oliver Peoples Vintage - Take a Journey Back in Time with Spectacle!

Something has been catching the eyes of shoppers enjoying the warm weather up and down Yonge Street - Look a little closer and you'll find another Spectacle Exclusive collection that has made it's way uptown.

Spectacle is proud to bring you the Oliver Peoples Vintage Collection, a showcase of frames celebrating the twenty year legacy of one of the most influential eyewear companies in the world.

This collection includes re-issues of some of the first frames released by the L.A. Based eyewear company and re-affirms their commitment to design and style. Designer and founder of Oliver Peoples, Larry Leight explains:

"Among these treasures are some of my favorites, including the first style introduced in the Oliver Peoples 1987 debut collection the OP-505. The 505 features filigreed antique metal temple and bridge detailing."

The OP-505

"Others were the OP-1955, a unique style recognized for its contrasting frame front and temple colours and the O'Malley, inspired by former L.A. Dodgers President Peter O'Malley which is one of the most recognizable frames in Oliver Peoples History."

OP-1955

O'Malley (available as Sunglass and Clear Rx)

"Convinced that interest in these classic styles is just as strong today as it was twenty years ago, I wanted to make some available to select customers. Since very few original pieces exist, and because it is essential that the same attention to detail, craftsmanship and the integrity of the original styles be retained, I reached out to the same Japanese factory to reproduce a limited quantity."

Thanks Larry, a passion for style and attention to detail is why Spectacle Loves Oliver Peoples and why we invite you to pay us a visit to see these limited edition pieces while you can!

We'll always strive to bring our clients the most exclusive collections in the world and provide an unparalleled selection of styles because Spectacle Loves You!
