G.L.C.O. 2012 Is Here

It is definitely feeling like a certain gift related holiday is right around the corner with all the wonderful boxes we've been unpacking at Spectacle. Last week we were all jazzed about the new arrivals by Thierry Lasry and the Goldsmith family.

This week we are geeked for Garrett Leight California Optical (G.L.C.O.)and with good reason, check out the swanky promo video below....



Garrett is the son of Larry Leight the founder of Oliver Peoples but you already knew that from our blog post about his debut collection

For season number two Garrett stuck with what works, meaning more "neo Americana" inspired frames with a twist of California cool. Take a look for yourself...

G.L.C.O, 2012 will be on primarily on display at our Queen St store for the time being but is available by viewing at Yonge St and the Distillery District.

Its The Kid Ft Spectacle's Own Kelly

Our boy Famous aka The Kid has just put out one of the best and freshest video's we have seen in a long long time AND its features our very own Kelly.

You can check the worlds best optician by day, supermodel by night playing "The Counselor" in the video above (caution the video does contain adult language).

Spectacle and Chloe, Together again!

Actress/Model/Mogul Chloe Sevigney has struck again in collaboration with Barton Perreira and retail empire Opening Ceremony.

Last year Spectacle was proud to unveil the debut collection between these three and this year we are even more excited about their designs.

We are loving the exposed lenses on the Jinx and Kevin models pictured above and the mirrored lenses on the Mark pictured below.

Last years collection was inspired by and named after Andy Warhol's muse Candy Darling.

Not much info is known on the story behind the names of these frames , we do know we are the only store around stocking these right now so stick close to this blog and our @spectaclelovesu twitter feed and we will let you know what we know when we know it, ya know

All New Oliver Goldsmith Sunglasses are Here!

The list of new arrivals at Spectacle's flagship store on Queen Street West just keeps growing! This Friday, you'll be able to get your hands on new releases by Oliver Goldsmith and Clair Goldsmith's Legacy collection.

The Berny, for the Michael Caine in your life...

The Orbison, a iconic shape as only Oliver Goldsmith can deliver.

The Ripley is available in a variety of lens colors and like the Berny and Orbison are very prescription-friendly.

Famous for decorating the faces of Hollywood elite for decades, the latest offerings from this influential UK brand include new men's shapes and vibrant cat-eyes like the Orbison and Ripley.

Continuing the tradition are some new arrivals in the Legacy Collection by Claire Goldsmith. Proving greatness runs in the family, the great-granddaughter of Oliver Goldsmith continues to please fans of vintage styles the world over.

These new colours are a welcome addition to other popular Legacy shapes now in stock including the Watson and Riley.

Spectacle and the Prince

There has been a couple of amazing concerts rocking Toronto lately and you know Spectacle has been there soaking it all in.

Last week we brought you a report from the Jay-Z and Kanye tour, this week we are kicking it a little more old school at Prince's show

As anyone who went to this knows cameras were not allowed for the general public, but that didn't stop us!

Lets just say we had a "royal" hook up.

New Thierry Lasry Hitting Queen St This Week

Since we fell so hard last year for the wonderful designs of Mr Thierry Lasry we recently decided to renew our romance once again. Above you will see Shervonne the newest edition to our Spectacle family showing off some of the hot new arrivals from the T.L. 2012 Collection

Building on the strong showing from last year, this season Mr Lasry has sought out some vintage acetates to produce his designs with. That means not only are his 2012 shapes totally cool in that "future vintage" way that his 2011's were, but they are also made from materials you wont find anywhere else, unless you have a time machine.

Here is a closer look at some of the frames you will find on the shelves of 752 Queen St West.

Judging by the names of the frames above Thierry is continuing to give his collection names that end in the letter "Y" just like his.

Happy Birthday Spectacle Distillery District !!

A big Happy Birthday to our Distillery District Boutique, who turns 4 years old today!!

From our outpost in historic building #53 we have seen a lot of fun frames and faces, here is a look back at some of our favorites.......

Our celebration wouldn't be complete with out someone singing us "happy birthday" and really who better then Marylin to do that.
