One of Spectacle's most creative staff members, Freda, chose Taru & Koli as her favourite eyeglasses of 2012!  Freda is a fashionable product designer who knows her eyewear.

Taru & Koli is a brand new line housed only in the finest eyewear boutiques in the world.  Spectacle is currently the only Canadian retailer and it's quickly becoming one of our most popular, sought-after collections.  The eyeglasses and sunglasses come in a range of colours, patterns, lens shades, and styles so there is truly something for everyone in the line.

Mark McNairy x Garrett Leight Eyewear Has Launched at Spectacle!

One of our favourite designers at Spectacle, Garrett Leight, has partnered with American designer Mark McNairy to create a new line of cool, fashion-forward eyewear.  Mark is the former creative director of the Ivy League inspired clothing company, J. Press.  He also continues his own high-end clothing collection known as New Amsterdam.

The new collaboration brings together vintage American heritage whilst drawing inspiration from classic American characters throughout time.  As Mark himself puts it, "we drew inspiration from... people who just don't give a damn what anyone thinks, like Mickey Rourke, Michael Caine, Peter Falk, and Groucho Marx".

The eyeglasses collection is a brand new collaboration that launched in September 2012 with the first preview at Mark's Spring / Summer 2013 Fashion Show during New York Fashion Week.  We are very excited about the new collection and we think you will be too!  The line is currently housed at our Queen St. West boutique.

Jordan Loves ROLF Spectacles!

Jordan's favourite eyeglasses of the year are from ROLF Spectacles!  ROLF produces hand-made, lightweight wooden, bamboo, and wood-stone eyewear that is perfect if you're looking for unique eyeglasses.

Mike Can Face Anything With His Rudy Project Sunglasses!

Mike's favourite eyewear of the year are his very own Gozen sunglasses! Rudy Project eyewear is designed specifically for athletes to offer them the best eye protection has to offer.  According to the designer, Rudy Barbazza, "Rudy Project was created with the firm conviction to improve the performance of athletes all over the world".

Brand New Face a Face Eyewear at Spectacle!

Spectacle's Queen St. boutique just received some new Face a Face eyewear! Face a Face is a French company which draws inspiration from architecture. According to the designers themselves, "The right shape helps to improve and to harmonize human relationships - relying on this statement, Pascal Jaulent and Nadine Roth created Face à Face in 1995".

Kira Loves REIZ!

Kira chose her favourite eyeglasses of the year and REIZ won!  She chose the Elbe model to write about for its cool shape and colour.

Kira explains in her own words why she enjoys wearing the Elbe so much: "I know that my personal style has evolved drastically over the years and I have redefined different ways to express myself to the world through how I look.  I love REIZ as it has also done exactly that.  They believe that glasses should be more than just a simple function in that they should be a means of personal expression as well.  Be who you want and wear it well - I can live with that."

Spectacle designs and custom makes products for clients on a regular basis, from polishing matte frames to converting eyeglasses to cool, one-of-a-kind shades.  Most recently, we transformed regular Taru & Koli Rushton sunglasses into shades with polarized, blue tinted lenses and leather side shields!

The end result is a fashionable, unique frame that you can't find anywhere else!  You too can look as cool as Spectacle's own Mike.

Spectacle has just received some amazing eyeglasses from designer Anne et Valentin.  The frames mix acetate with titanium and each piece is stunning, bright, and unique!

Jenny's Favourite Sunglasses: David Yurman!

David Yurman is an American designer who has worked with some of the world's biggest stars to create their looks.  Celebrity fans include Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Madonna... just to name a few.

Because of David's huge following it's no wonder why Jenny chose to feature his shades as her favourite sunglasses of the year!

According to Jenny, "I chose the David Yurman Sun DY058 because of it classic shape.  It's a very limited collection and the David Yurman signature cable pieces on the temple give it a very upscale and posh look."  David Yurman eyewear comes in a variety of shapes and colours so there is something complimentary for every face shape.

Kelly Loves Her ic! berlin Frames!

Kelly's favourite frames of the year were an easy choice - the Provocante by ic! berlin.  The shape is perfect and it's a very stylish, flattering piece!

Kelly explains her love by saying that "ic! berlin frames are one of the lightest, strongest, and best made frames in the world today.  Wonderfully crafted and architecturally beautiful, these frames don't have screws or solder points which makes them incredibly durable.  I love the edginess of these sunglasses with jeans and a t-shirt and the simplicity of them with a black dress."  

ic! berlin became famous for their hinge that is designed to allow for incredibly easy removal of the temples which is why the frames are so durable.  ic! berlin is also known for personal touches - like Ralph's own phone number engraved on every temple!

Paul Smith Spectacles: Dandee Frames Now at Spectacle!

Paul Smith Dandee frames are now available at Spectacle!  Paul Smith is a famous British designer who partnered up with Oliver Peoples' founder, Larry Leight, to create his own line of eyewear.
