If you grew up in the 80's listening to rap (ie the Golden Age of Hip-Hop), there was nothing more iconic than Adidas shell-toes, Kangol hats, and Cazal sunglasses.

Cari Zalloni (CAri ZALloni), founder and designer of Cazal eyewear, has passed away this month.  He is famous for his amazing eyewear creations which are unique and distinguished.  Cari has said of the inspiration behind his frames that "a designer eyewear line that pleases everyone is unlikely to inspire, good design must be thought-provoking".

Spectacle Summer Trunk Show Series: Linda Farrow and Orgreen & Blac

Spectacle got the chance to host two special trunk shows last week.  On Thursday, July 5th, we held a Linda Farrow Trunk Show at our Queen St. shop and on Saturday, July 7th, we had Orgreen & Blac at the Yonge St. location.  Both shows were great and the reps and our staff taught Spectacle customers even more about the featured products!

Beautiful Balloons for a Pride Window Display!

Our Queen St. West store window is all set for the Pride weekend ahead!  We received our lovely balloons from Carol Mair at Balloon Corporate Events and the window has never been so colourful.

Amazing New, Exclusive Oliver Peoples x SoloIst Frames Available Now at Spectacle!

Spectacle got some new exclusive Oliver Peoples x Takahiro Miyashita The SoloIst Two frames in and they are a stunning collaboration.  The frames are recognized for artistic tailoring of layers, contrasting materials, and distinctive aged effects.

This collection is very exclusive and is only carried at Oliver Peoples boutiques, Garrett Leight`s A. Kinney Court, and, of course, Spectacle!

The frames come in a variety of two classic colour combinations

 

The finished product is a masterpiece of old and new - truly a vintage look inspired by other vintage looks!  The rivet nose pad and pad arm have been recreated to reflect high quality eyewear of the 20s and 30s.  They are also available in both optical and Sun!

The collaboration also features sunglasses, such as the Teardrop

The frames are unique in that they have a mirror lens between two glass lenses to eliminate scratching to the mirror.  Japanese designer Miyashita, who has always been inspired by Oliver Peoples, said "this collaboration is going to be a new standard... I am very honoured and grateful for the result".  We couldn't agree more!

The new Philippe Starck Biosun Collection has arrived at Spectacle!  We have the new frames available now at the Queen St. West location.

What makes Philippe Starck so great is that he strives to create frames that are imaginative and timeless.  Philippe Starck is trained in architecture which has helped him to create such interesting, unique frames.

The new Biosun collection offers a variety of 3 unique lens options including polycarbonate, polycarbonate polarized, and mineral glass.  Philippe’s architectural and designing background really comes out in his hinge design which is modelled after the human shoulder.  As always, the Biosun collection includes this feature as well!

Coming Soon, the Oliver Peoples 2012 Spring Collection!

It's just about that time of the year when we start itching to see the unpcoming spring releases from Oliver Peoples.  This year, we're lucky enough to get a peak at the the new Oliver Peoples Resort 2012 Spring Collection before anyone else and naturally we thought we'd share them with you, our lovely Spectale Clients even before they arrive!

Among the new additions are more colours options for popular models like the Denison including a new size option, and more colours for the commerotive Gregory Peck, modelled after the frames worn in the film To Kill A Mockingbird.

Spectacle and Dress To Kill Magazine have been reaping the rewards of a mutually beneficial relationship for about a year now and this month is no exception.
